Prior to this upcoming New York City trip, I never realized just how much there is to do in NYC. Goodness, talk about an overload of epic proportions.
Anyone that knows me knows that I do a fair amount of research before I go somewhere I haven’t been. While this trip is no different, I really didn’t have a clue where to begin. In a recent post, Two Girls, One City, I created a Google Map with Pins of places I would like to visit while we are there. I sent this to Cindy and she then gave me a list of places she would like to go. I was then able to turn these pins green on the map and wa-la a list was created.
On this list, we now have the following that are absolutely happening:
- Central Park
- Times Square
- Grand Central Station
- Empire State Building
- Carrie Bradshaw’s Sex & the City house
- 9/11 Memorial & Museum & Freedom Tower
- Brooklyn Bridge
- Statue of Liberty
If you ask me, I think this is a good list for the lack of time we will be spending in NYC – 4 days, 3 nights. If we end up staying at The Roosevelt, then the majority of these are listed within close proximity to us, which I think will allow us extra time to do or go see items that are not on our “must list”.
Call me crazy, call me over the top, call me whatever, but I promise that if you do research and preplan a little before any trip, it makes the trip so much better! That’s not to say that I don’t do things on a whim when I go somewhere, because that’s all our trip to Atlantis Paradise Island was! With that said, a place as big as New York City requires planning and is not something that should be skipped because “you’re not a planner.” You may surprise yourself and find out that planning isn’t half bad.
